YuKKa's BLog

Hey! How in the world did you get to my place? Was it by accident or was it because my magic wand flashed bright lights before your very eyes and just as quickly you woke up into some wonderland called YuKKa's BLog? (LoL). That must be the case unless I know you from the past.

What the heck, let's get this rolling... I'm Yukka Kusanagi. And you are? Hmmm. Oh, if my name sound like Japanese, that's because I have a little bit of Japanese in me. I'm a half & half. Half Filipino and half Japanese. My biological father is from Japan, my mom's a native of Davao and I'm Cebu-born. I'm second of only two ladybugs that cracked out of our mother's eggs - the other one is my Ate Princess - and I'm usually the one responsible for much of the tensions and rumblings going around in the house we call home.

You probably noticed by now that I'm no veteran in virtual reality issues nor an able tinkerer of high tech stuff, much less a nerdy webblogger of decent background. No, I'm not, and probably won't be... for long. After all I'm only seven and thirty something (7 years old and 30 seconds-munites-hours-or-days something). But I do have "YuKKA" (not me) with me, my latest and thus far my most expensive state-of-the-art-owned laptop manufactured by Hewlett-Packerd, an HP zd8000 with Pentium 4. Voila, my every-Filipino-youth dream!

School hasn't been much of a help in terms of portable computing, personally. I don't have YET a kiddie subject dealing with this stuff. Why? Well, like I said, I'm only seven and thirty something. Reading and writing, I guess, are first priorities when it wasn't that long ago since I first learned how to speak, and walk myself. I haven't even reached the much expected "seven-year-itch" for most creatures of habit (LoL).

Oh my, where in the world am I going with this chit-chatting of mine?!!! Starting a conversation, needless to say, must be real tricky coz it can distract and distant one easily from the important to the petty, from something sensible to non-sense or what-have-you. I must be in that "junked" mode right now.

Anyways, since, I believe, you know me already, or a little something about me, why don't we get the ball rolling. Welcome to my virtual home and profile. If you care enough to stick with me, you might find some stuff here worth browsing. "About Me" "My Blog" "Photo Albums" and "Blogrolls", are only few of what's in store for you. I hope this one's good enough to keep you from straying so quickly out of my "made-for-internet" persona. But, for what's it worth, I truly appreciate your visit and reading this welcome mat roll. Much thanks, y'all! (YuKKa)

A Book About Planet Yukka

New Book Entitled ‘Geordie and the Spaceman’ by Mandy Ambert

Yukka2006_idpic001Geordie and the Spaceman is the story of a young lad named Geordie who meets Yuk, a space boy who has stolen his father’s space ship as a dare and landed on Earth by mistake. Yuk knows his father will not reach him for a week and the story covers the boys’ adventures as they build a lasting friendship. Geordie’s family look after Yuk and keep his arrival a secret, aided by the fact that Yuk can turn himself invisible.

Excerpt from the Book

"...The alien stepped back, trembling with fear... Geordie slowly extended his hand in friendship and said “Hello, my name’s Alan.” His father had told him always to be polite to strangers and there was nothing more strange than this spaceman. The alien hesitated but did the same and when Geordie took his hand he realised that the skin was warm like his own but blue-green in colour and with great surprise was answered by the figure in front of him. “My name’s Yuk from the planet Yukka and I’m a Yukkarite and an astronaut!”

Yukka Trees

Without having to prove myself before the world, yes, I'm a lover of "anything Yukka." After much tinkering and browsing over the WWW, I've incidentally learned that there are other Yukkas thriving in this world beside yours truly. For one there's this thing I read about pounding its way all over UK (see link above). And there's this story about one planet form called Yuk whose posterity are already etched in some book stories. And then there's this Yukka Tree which I'm posting on this particluar draft. Here we go:

+     +     +

Yukka trees are dessert plants. They like sun and dry. Stop watering immediately and do not water for at least 2 weeks then only water when the soil feels bone dry and the plant is light weight. In the summer they can go outdoors but need to go into a semi shady location so they don't get sunburned. Pull off the lower withered leaves and if they get plenty of sun they will grow more new green leaves.

But so much for Yukka Trees... (wink!)

I've set my visions far and wide...

Being a by-product of two unique, excellent cultures with  rich histories and traditions, I see myself as one destined for greater things. I have to be. But somehow I have to learn and earn everything as my young journey has only just began and slowly unfolding right before my very eyes.

+     +     +

To the few special people whom I consider to be "significant influences" in my life, a word or two of gratitude I now penned here:

+     +     +

First, and formost, to my mom, Amor, for not only bringing me to this world but for all the love and sacrifices she's made to keep our family together and for the opportunities she's made possible for us when otherwise this world would have been very tough to live in.

+     +     +

To my Ate Princess whose sisterly love has made her sacrifice so much of herself (willingly and, quite a few times, forcedfully!) to please and pacify her often uncontrollable sibling's demand for love and attention especially during my pre-school years (and now, even!)

+     +     +

To my mommy, tatay, cuzins and other relations, whose love and friendship helped fill the void of an otherwise unfortunate journey of being deprived of a much-needed love, care and guidance of a real father...

+     +     +

To my Kuya Neneng, Ate Judith, Ate Bebe, Ate Maribel who acts as shock-absorbers, and once in a while, as punching bags of this little "out-of-the-way-kiddo" from the ghetto, but who's as much appreciative for all they have done and, more importantly, also found comfort and love in their selfless way of "being-there-for-us" during the times we needed them the most.

+     +     +

To my dearest uncle Romeo, uncle Brydz and all the other uncles and ates in the world, Ate Venancia, Ate Vemvem and all... you are all special. Thank you very much for your love and guidance and for being family with us.

+     +     +

To my ever-dearest Tito Roel whose love knows no bound, who's always there when we're at a loss and whose love and care and support is irreplaceable. He's my one and only tito, my mentor, my teacher... and most important of all, a father to me.

+     +     +

I just wanted to say, "Thank You!"
